Spring is beautiful. The sun is shining, babies are being born, flowers are blooming… and we are all sneezing, coughing, rubbing our eyes and cursing the day pollen came into existence. Allergies are just a part of spring unfortunately. What a lot of people don’t know however, is that you can build up a tolerance to the pollen in your area by eating local honey. Would I lie to you? Ok seriously, those neat little bees fly around collecting pollen from all of our local flowers and turn it into sweet beautiful honey. If you ingest this delicious nectar of the gods you will introduce the pollen to your body in small doses and begin to build up a tolerance. Kind of like getting a flu shot. Except you get to eat it, its yummy, its natural, and it works without side effects. Next time you’re thinking any nasty thoughts about those little buzzing bees stop and think about all the things they do for us. They make honey and still find time to pollenate all of the fruits and vegetables that we eat. Without bees our world wouldn’t be as beautiful or nutritious.
P.S. If you are still struggling with allergies, try using a neti pot. They have literally been around forever.
